Ongoing projects (List):

  1. Improving Seed Health and Storage System (In-house project)
  2. Basic and Strategic Research on Seed Quality Improvement (In-house project)
  3. Seed quality assessment and enhancement technologies (In-house project)

Research Accomplishments (5 best):

  • Developed rapid methods for assessing seed germination, seed quality, and seed physiological health of Glycine max, Arachis hypogaea, and Allium cepa, along with a novel insecticidal composition for seed storage insect pest management, and filed three patents
  • Developed a large-scale molecular marker resource in Allium cepa comprising over 4,100 ILP, 50 cpSSR, and ~7,000 SNP markers, and mapped Total Soluble Solids (TSS) associated genes through GWAS, culminating in the development of India’s first high-TSS short-day white onion rabi varieties, Bhima Prasanskaran (DOGR HT-3) and Bhima Nirjala (DOGR HT-4), for processing in Zones V and VI of India
  • Identified seed longevity–associated SNPs through GWAS in Allium cepa and demonstrated immunomodulator-induced immune memory in wild and cultivated Allium species, enhancing seed health and quality
